To save time when messaging candidates, you can use message templates. These templates can be personalized with shortcodes that dynamically fill in the candidate's name, job title, your name, etc.
Using message templates
There are two different ways to use message templates:
- While reviewing applicant matches
- Messaging a candidate (after they have been reviewed)
1. Reviewing applicant matches
When reviewing applicant matches, you have the option to "approve" or "archive" them. Selecting either of these options will open a modal populated with the respective default template.
- You can quickly select a different template, by clicking this button:
- You can enter a link by highlighting any text, clicking this icon, and entering a valid URL:
2. Messaging candidates
When messaging a candidate, quickly load a message template by clicking this button:
Editing message templates
Creating and editing message templates is very easy.
- From the dashboard, click on your name and then click Messaging
This screen displays your existing message templates.
- To create a new message template click Create a template
- To edit an existing template, hover over the template and click the Edit icon
When creating a new template or editing an existing template, the following options are available:
- Template Name - This is the name of your template
- Assign to Stage - Templates are organized by stage so that they are easier to find later
- Message - This is the content of your template
- Shortcode - Clicking the "{ }" icon will allow you to enter a shortcode into your template message. This will dynamically fill in the candidate's name, job title, your name, etc.
- Stage Default - When this option is enabled, SquarePeg will automatically display a modal (shown below) when a candidate is moved to that stage. You always have the option of dismissing this modal without sending a message.
In the example below, we create a custom message template that will appear whenever a candidate is moved into the "Contacted: No Response" stage on the candidate pipeline.
Below is an example of the custom template in action.
