SquarePeg's matching algorithm reviews every new job applicant. As opposed to traditional applicant tracking systems, SquarePeg only notifies you when a new match is identified.
Additionally, when you publish a new job, a match score is generated for every candidate in SquarePeg's database. This database contains candidates who have applied for a job on SquarePeg in the past. You can browse this database at any time and invite candidates to apply for your job.
How matches are generated
When a candidate applies for a job on SquarePeg they are asked to upload a resume. A profile is automatically created using this resume. Candidates can edit their profile by adding or removing work experience, skills, preferences, demographic information, and more.
SquarePeg reviews every applicant by comparing a job's targeting criteria to the candidate's resume and SquarePeg profile. When an applicant fits within a job's targeting criteria, a match is created and a score is generated.
The accuracy of applicant matching and scores are determined by your targeting criteria. Poor targeting criteria will result in poor match and score accuracy.
What impacts match score
The following are considered when generating candidate match scores.
Skills
A candidate's skills are compared to the required and secondary skills listed as targeting criteria. While both required and secondary skills are considered, required skills are given more credit. Partial credit is also awarded for any skill on a candidate's profile that is closely related, but not an exact match.
Industries
A candidate's industry experience is compared to the required and secondary industries listed as targeting criteria. While both required and secondary industries are considered, required industries are given more credit. Partial credit is also awarded for any industries on a candidate's profile that is closely related, but not an exact match.
Relevant Work Experience
A candidate's total work experience is compared to the range of relevant work experience listed as targeting criteria. The more experience a candidate has relevant to the job titles included as targeting criteria the higher their match score will be.
